Music, Art and Tea!

Hevreh Ensemble is excited to announce a new lecture series on China that will help to support our tour to China in March 2020. The tour is presented by PARMA Records.

The lectures will take place on Sunday afternoons 2:00 PM at Chaiwalla located at 1 Main Street in Salisbury, CT. Owner Mary O’Brien has graciously offered to host us and will serve her legendary desserts and tea. Here is the format for the lectures:

October 20th -“Hearing Nature: Chinese Music Through the Centuries" with musicologist Dr. John Myers, Professor of Music and Cultural Studies-Bard College at Simons Rock

November 17th- “Seeing Nature”: “Chinese Art Through the Centuries” with historian Dr. Verena Drake-former faculty, The Hotchkiss School

January 19th- “Chinese Tea”: “Learn About and Taste Teas from Different Regions of China” with Mary O’Brien from Chaiwalla

February 9th- “A Natural Combination: “Painters, Poems and Art” with a Guzheng demonstration by Pan Lei,Mandarin instructor at The Hotchkiss School and Dr. Verena Drake

Requested Donation: $ 25.00 for each lecture. Proceeds will benefit Hevreh Ensemble’s upcoming performances in China in March 2020!
